Information for authorsSubmissions Submission to ACSi is an implicit understanding that all the listed authors have agreed all the content. The corresponding (submitting) author is responsible for having ensured that this agreement has been reached. The acceptance of an article is based entirely on its scientific merit, as judged by peer review. How to submit? Submissions should be directed to the ACSi Editor by e-mail:
Prior to submission we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with ACSi style by browsing the journal, either in print or online, particularly if you have not submitted to the ACSi recently. Cover letter should accompany all contributions. It should contain:
A copy of the cover letter must be signed by the corresponding author and sent to the editor by regular mail. Graphical contents: an ideally full-colour illustration must be supplied with the submission on the last page. After electronic submission, receipt of your file will be acknowledged by the ACSi Editorial Office as soon as possible. Authors should contact the ACSi Editorial Office if they have not received an acknowledgement within 5 working days. The acceptance of an article is based entirely on its scientific merit, as judged by peer review. Article types Review articles are welcome in any area of chemistry and may cover a wider or a more specialized area, if a high impact is expected. Authors are encouraged to consult the ACSi editor prior to preparation of a review article. Scientific articles should have the following structure:
The sections should be arranged in a sequence generally accepted in publications in the respective fields. Scientific articles report on significant and innovative achievements and should exhibit a high level of originality. Short communications generally follow the same order of sections, but should be short (max. 2500 words) and report on a significant aspect of research work meriting a separate publication. Technical articles report on applications of an already described innovation. Typically, technical articles are not based on new experiments. Preparation of submissions The submitted articles must be prepared with Word for Windows. Normal style set to single column, 1.5 line spacing, and 12 pt Times New Roman font is recommended. For any other format, please consult the editor. Correct spelling and grammar are the sole responsibility of the author(s). Papers should be written in a concise and succinct manner. Tables, figures and illustrations should fit within either single column (8 cm) or double column (17 cm) width and should be inserted in the text where appropriate. The captions should be self-explanatory. SI system of units and IUPAC recommendations for nomenclature, symbols and abbreviations should be followed closely. Additionally, the authors should follow the general guidelines when citing spectral and analytical data, and depositing crystallographic data. Characters should be correctly represented throughout the manuscript: for example, 1 (one) and l (ell), 0 (zero) and O (oh), x (ex), ´ (times sign), ° (degree sign). Use Symbol font for all Greek letters and math symbols. References should be numbered, and ordered sequentially as they appear in the text, methods, tables, figure captions. When cited in the text, reference numbers should be superscripted, following punctuation marks. It is the sole responsibility of authors to cite articles that had been submitted to a journal or were in print at the time of submission to ACSi. Formatting of references to published work should follow the journal style, please also consult a recent issue:
Titles of journals shoud be abbreviated according to Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI). Guidelines for Illustrations: Image quality: keep figures as simple as possible for clarity - avoid unnecessary complexity, colouring and excessive detail. Images should be of sufficient quality for the printed version, i.e. 300 dpi minimum. At submission, figures should be at good enough resolution to be assessed by referees, ideally as JPEGs. High-resolution figures (in JPEG, TIFF, or EPS format) will be required if the paper is eventually accepted for publication. Image size: illustrations should be submitted at its final size (8 cm for single column width or 17 cm for double column width) so that neither reduction nor enlargement is required. Text in illustrations: lettering should be in 8 point Arial (or similar) font. In graphs, use SI units, separated from quantities by parentheses, e.g. T (K); c (mol L‑1). Symbols representing physical quantities should be given in italics. Line drawings: lines should be black, of an adequate thickness ( e.g. 1 pt), take special care of lines in spectra. Mark data points with simple geometric symbols. Use cross-hatching if appropriate. Photographs: please provide either high quality digital images (250 dpi resolution) or original prints. Computer print-outs or photocopies will not reproduce well enough for publication. Colour photographs rarely reproduce satisfactorily in black and white. Cover Picture Authors are encouraged to submit illustrations as candidates for the Cover Picture. The illustration must be related to the subject matter of the paper. Proofs Proofs will be dispatched via e-mail and corrections should be returned to the editor by e-mail as quickly as possible, normally within 48 hours of receipt. Typing errors should be corrected, changes of contents will be treated as new submissions. Correspondence All correspondence with the ACSi editor should contain full reference to the paper concerned: the names of the authors, the title, the date of submission, and the manuscript reference assigned by the editor.
